The Guardian Angel program has come a long way since it was first introduced in the year 2000. Its practices and procedures have transformed our safety culture in innumerable ways. The key to the program’s success, however, lies with you and your willingness to adopt its safety mindset as your own and your unselfish accountability, not just for your own safety, but that of everyone else around you.

 

While the ultimate reward of any effective safety program is your ability to go home safely at the end of each day, the Gold Star program is icing on the cake. It is our way of saying thank you for everything you do, each and every day, to keep safety at the forefront.

 

At Martin Marietta, safety is a shared responsibility. We must all do our part if we are to be successful.  I challenge each of you to continually rededicate yourself to keeping yourself, and your co-workers, safe. Always be on the lookout for potential hazards and immediately report anything that could put someone’s safety at risk.

 

Safety is not the end product of our work; it is the beginning. If we attend to safety first, success in all other areas will follow.

 

Our goal has been, and remains zero incidents. Anything less is simply unacceptable.
